We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Solicitor to join our Commercial, Property and Technology Branch. As a trusted legal partner to the Victorian Government, you will provide expert advice on complex property and commercial matters, including real property issues, Crown land, land transactions and public infrastructure projects.
As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on challenging and interesting legal work, including drafting and negotiating agreements, providing advice on interpretation of agreements and real property concepts, and supervising junior solicitors.
Key Responsibilities- Independently prepare, manage and conduct complex and sensitive matters, including providing legal advice to government clients.
- Provide clear, concise and authoritative written and oral advice to government on interpretation of agreements, real property concepts, encumbrances and statutory interpretation issues.
- Draft, negotiate and assist in settling complex property and commercial agreements, including commercial leases and licences, contracts of sale and land use and development agreements.
- Undertake research and analysis on complex and challenging matters.
- Supervise, lead and mentor junior solicitors.
- Admitted to practice as a legal practitioner of the Supreme Court of Victoria.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of principles and practice of real property law in both transactional and advisory capacities.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and client relationship management skills.
- Flexibility and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
- Proven experience supervising, leading and mentoring staff.
