As a Solicitor with our Government team in Melbourne, you'll play a vital role in broadening your experience and contributing to the growth of a rapidly expanding government practice. This is an exceptional opportunity for a high-performing Solicitor to join our highly regarded team, led by Sarah Thompson.

Our team works in government and administrative law, conducting judicial and merits review on behalf of the Commonwealth government in a range of litigation matters. You will be part of a local team of 5 lawyers and 2 paralegals and a national team of 3 Partners, 17 lawyers, and 10 paralegals. This position offers direct client access and the chance to collaborate with our national colleagues.

Key responsibilities include managing a high-volume litigation practice on behalf of the Commonwealth Government, providing advice on prospects of success, preparing court documents in accordance with court deadlines, and undertaking solicitor advocacy in the Federal Courts and Administrative Review Tribunal.

To succeed in this role, you should have 1-3 years post-admission experience within litigation, preferably with previous government or migration experience. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential for dealing with clients and other parties. Strong document drafting and advice writing skills are also required. A desire to develop your career in private legal practice is advantageous.
