Maternal and Child Health Nursing Opportunity

Casual maternal and child health roles provide flexible, family-focused services to maximize the health potential of all children from birth to 6 years and their families.

High-quality evidence-based practice focuses on strengthening parenting capacity and empowering families to make optimal decisions related to their children's health and development.

The role is guided by Victorian MCH program standards and frameworks, including home visiting, first parent groups, KAS assessments, and flexible service options.

Maternal and child health nurses deliver health promotion through education on breastfeeding, early learning, nutrition, and immunisation, contributing to quality improvement and research projects within the Family, Youth, and Children's unit.

Responsibilities
  • Provide home visiting, group sessions, KAS assessments, and flexible service options within the Universal MCH program.
  • Deliver health promotion and evidence-based education on parenting topics, including breastfeeding, early learning, nutrition, and immunisation.
  • Contribute to quality improvement and research projects within the Family, Youth, and Children's unit.
Qualifications and About You
  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse and a Registered Midwife.
  • Recognised postgraduate Maternal and Child Health qualification (for employment in Victoria).
  • Current Victorian driver's license and Working with Children Check.
