Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Risk Manager - Business Controls to join our Chief Customer Office team at Credit Union Australia. As a key member of the Business Controls, Monitoring and Remediation team, you will play a crucial role in strengthening front-line accountability for risk management and providing thought leadership, advice, and challenge in the management of risks, obligations, and controls.

About the Role

This is a full-time opportunity with flexible working arrangements based in our head office in Brisbane's CBD or Sydney CBD. You will report directly to the Senior Manager, Business Controls.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • You will support the business in managing and mitigating risk by providing input into the implementation of frameworks, policies, supporting standards, processes, and procedures through collaboration and partnering with stakeholders.
  • You will advance understanding of our risk, control, and obligation environment by collaborating with the CCO business and the first line risk community to identify key organisational controls relied upon across the enterprise.
  • You will work closely with the CCO business to understand key controls and draw from your experience of conducting control testing to support the business complete its annual testing plan.
  • You will assess incidents, including incident/breach investigation, facilitate root cause analysis, and make recommendations on mitigating actions and control improvement design.
  • You will monitor and support the delivery and maintenance of compliance plans and ensure that BCPs, or elements of the BCPs, are tested at least annually.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A minimum 5 years' experience in financial services with a strong understanding of operational risk and compliance in the financial services industry.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications.
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar risk and/or compliance role, preferably in the 1LOD and Banking and Financial Services Industry.
  • Experience in formulating and implementing compliance and compliance procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience with industry and governance standards (Three Lines of Defence, ISO 31000, APRA CPS220).
  • Strong Experience in risks relating to banking, and the legislative/regulatory requirements around these (Privacy Act, Corporations Act, NCCP Act).
  • Strong understanding of industry legislation and regulatory requirements, including current and upcoming regulatory change.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to deliver solutions to risk and compliance issues, including experience in developing and delivering Risk and Compliance strategies aimed to enhance 1LOD capability and uplift maturity.
Qualifications

Pursuant to section 126G of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW), it is an occupational requirement for this position that applicants hold a degree-level qualification in a relevant field, such as finance, business, commerce, or law.
