Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Urban Planner to join our Statutory Planning team at Hobsons Bay City Council. This is a permanent full-time position, working 38 hours per week with a salary of $75,511 – $87,624 + superannuation.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing planning permit applications within the statutory framework of planning legislation. They will provide general planning advice to applicants and residents, prepare submissions, and represent Council before the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal and Council's Delegated Planning Committee.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess planning permit applications and make recommendations to the Council.
  • Provide expert advice on planning matters to the community, developers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Represent Council at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal and Council's Delegated Planning Committee.
  • Develop and implement innovative solutions to complex planning issues.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A tertiary qualification in Statutory Planning or a related discipline.
  • A current Victorian driver's license.
  • A solid understanding of Statutory Planning legislation, the planning framework, and planning principles as they operate in Victoria.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage time and competing priorities to achieve desired results.
