Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead the group legal team and be responsible for a range of strategic corporate and commercial matters, including corporate governance, contract law and regulatory compliance.
  2. Provide expert legal advice to Avant on its legal rights and obligations, identify solutions to eliminate or mitigate legal and regulatory risk, and ensure that all stakeholders are informed of new or proposed legislation or regulatory activity.
  3. Liaise with regulators, government officials, departments or tribunals on matters affecting Avant where required.
  4. Negotiate, draft and settle all major client contracts, vendor contracts and other commercial arrangements to safeguard Avant's interests.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Laws degree or similar tertiary qualification.
  • Current NSW Corporate Legal Practitioner Practising Certificate.
  • Successful track record in an in-house corporate legal capacity.
  • Private practice experience in providing commercial legal advice.
  • Previous experience working in an insurance and/or Australian financial services environment would be beneficial.
