
Nurse Service Leader

The Nurse Unit Manager is a pivotal leadership role within our organization, overseeing the efficient operation of 18 operating theatres with specialties in orthopaedics, neurosurgery, cardiac and general surgery. Our team boasts state-of-the-art technology and highly skilled medical professionals, allowing them to work seamlessly with the surgical team to provide optimal care for patients undergoing procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor service standards against benchmark targets, including nurse-sensitive indicators, incident management system data, clinical indicator results and patient, doctor and caregiver satisfaction ratings.
- Support and participate in accreditation processes, quality management programs and clinical risk initiatives.
- Foster a clinical culture of interdisciplinary collaboration to enhance patient outcomes.
- Ensure patient involvement in relevant planning and decision-making processes.
- Work in a clinical capacity as required, supporting caregivers and medical officers to deliver safe, person-centred care.
- Effectively manage service cost centre resources, including productivity, activity and utilisation.
- Participate in workforce model implementation and maintenance, ensuring quality of care and appropriate skills levels.
- Cost-effectively manage human resources, including on-call, overtime and rostering practices.
- Review payroll and personnel data, managing absenteeism, agency utilisation and leave entitlements.
- Develop and implement recruitment, retention and succession plans to achieve skill mix profiles and FTE requirements.
- Registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse.
- Extensive clinical experience in Perioperative Scrub Scout nursing.
- Advanced clinical, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
