About the Opportunity

The Production Manager – Fabrication plays a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient and effective management of our fabrication trade group, aligning with business objectives. Key responsibilities include establishing and maintaining a safe working environment, providing adequate resources to project teams, and driving continuous improvement strategies across all areas of influence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure Quality and Safety Standards: Maintain required quality, technical, and safety standards associated with production trade value stream.
  • Manage Fabrication Department Performance: Oversee department performance, professional development, succession planning, and performance appraisals.
  • Provide Adequate Resources: Ensure project teams have necessary resources to support submarine maintenance activities.
  • Refine Facility and Equipment Requirements: Refine facility, equipment, and tooling needs for all aspects of production trade effort.
  • Deliver Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement strategies across all areas of influence.
  • Establish Processes and Ways of Working: Establish required processes and ways of working for the Fabrication trade department.
About You
  • Educational qualifications in Engineering, Management, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in managing/supervising a large workforce in a shipbuilding, submarine, or heavy engineering environment.
  • Ability to execute scheduled work.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of Submarine Fabrication techniques.
  • Ability to work across multi-functional teams/departments in a complex and fast-paced environment.
Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
