About the Role
The Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery (MPRG) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Curatorial Lead to join our team. As a key member of our programming team, you will be responsible for implementing our exhibition and collection management strategies, ensuring the highest standards of industry practice are maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement innovative and engaging exhibition programmes, including curating a range of creative projects at MPRG and off-site.
- Support the exhibition programme through research, writing, publications, learning resources, public programmes, and funding applications.
- Oversee the development, interpretation, and care of MPRG's Permanent Collection.
- Manage a team of 3 staff, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful delivery of exhibitions and programmes.
- Generate exhibitions, instigate MPRG Collection shows, and select relevant touring shows, including NGA initiatives.
- Contribute to Public and Education programming, developing new audiences and writing for MPRG publications.
About You
We are looking for a forward-thinking and positive individual with a strong background in art history, museum or curatorial studies, and a minimum of 5 years' experience in professional gallery practice. You will have a sound knowledge of and experience in exhibitions, research, cataloguing, fundraising, and project management. Previous experience leading or supervising a team is also essential.
