Mental Health Clinician for Children and Families

We are seeking a dedicated mental health clinician to join our team in supporting the needs of consumers when a parent experiences a mental illness. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will consult, coordinate care and provide services to children and families affected by parental mental health issues.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in mental health working with children and young people 0-17 years of age, their families and carers. You will be required to demonstrate knowledge and/or experience in health promotion, training and education, specialist early intervention programs and/or understanding of and participation in community development programs.

In addition to your clinical expertise, you will possess excellent communication skills and be able to work autonomously with minimal supervision while maintaining involvement within the wider multidisciplinary team. Your ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders is essential in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Consult, coordinate care and support the needs of consumers when a parent experiences a mental illness
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualised plans for children and families
  • Provide mental health services to children and families affected by parental mental health issues
  • Develop and deliver health promotion and education programs for children and families
  • Collaborate with external agencies and organisations to enhance service delivery and outcomes

Requirements:

  • Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or Nursing with current registration
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in mental health working with children and young people 0-17 years of age
  • Extensive knowledge of health promotion, training and education, specialist early intervention programs and community development
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision
