Ralmax Group of Companies is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual for the position of Labourer at our steel fabrication facility in Victoria, British Columbia. The successful candidate will engage in both unskilled and semi-skilled tasks within the steel fabrication sector, receiving comprehensive on-the-job training to enhance their skills and reduce the need for supervision over time. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct routine maintenance on machinery and equipment.
  2. Monitor and replenish coolant levels in machine reservoirs.
  3. Ensure cleanliness and organization of work areas.
  4. Transport parts and materials to designated workstations as needed.
  5. Execute additional tasks as assigned by management.
  6. Comply with and understand safety protocols in accordance with federal and provincial regulations.
  7. Assist in assembling temporary structures and containment systems.
  8. Operate hand and power tools, with a willingness to learn to use various types of machinery.
  9. Utilize overhead cranes and forklifts safely.
  10. Perform cleaning and fueling of service vehicles.
  11. Support tradespeople in their duties when necessary.
  12. Prepare steel components for shipment by applying primer paint.
  13. Manage waste by emptying scrap bins and refuse containers.
  14. Engage in physically demanding tasks in diverse weather conditions.
  15. Follow both verbal and written instructions while maintaining accurate records.
  16. Learn and adhere to safety regulations.

Qualifications:

  1. Possession of a valid class 5 BC driver's license.
  2. Ability to pass screening tests and security clearances.
  3. Eligibility to work in Canada.
  4. Familiarity with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Workers' Compensation Board (WCB) regulations.

Skills and Attributes:

  1. Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work independently.
  2. Maintain a reliable and positive attitude within a team setting.
  3. Willingness to learn and adapt to various equipment and machinery.
  4. Demonstrate a strong work ethic and commitment to learning.

Working Conditions:

  1. Physical capability to lift weights up to 80 lbs.
  2. Potential travel to off-site locations.
  3. Use of safety equipment is mandatory, including steel-toed boots and safety glasses.
  4. Overtime may be required.
  5. Exposure to trade-related hazards.
  6. Work will be conducted both indoors and outdoors.
