Senior Officer, Peer Support and Transition

Job Overview:

This role offers an opportunity to make a lasting impact by building connections, fostering belonging, and helping students navigate their journey from day one.

  • Design, implement and coordinate peer mentoring and transition programs tailored to the needs of commencing students within the Faculty.
  • Collaborate with academic and professional staff to support the successful orientation and transition of students into their courses.
  • Develop and deliver inclusive, culturally safe, and accessible transition experiences for diverse student cohorts, including international, first-in-family, and underrepresented groups.
  • Facilitate workshops, drop-ins, and small group sessions focused on student success, peer learning, and help-seeking behaviours.
  • Build strong working relationships with academic course teams, student services, and external partners to enhance student engagement and support offerings.

Key Responsibilities:

The Senior Officer, Peer Support and Transition will be responsible for designing, implementing, and coordinating peer mentoring and transition programs tailored to the needs of commencing students within the Faculty. The successful candidate will collaborate with academic and professional staff to support the successful orientation and transition of students into their courses.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A degree with subsequent relevant experience; or
  • Extensive experience and specialist knowledge or broad knowledge in technical or administrative fields; or
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Administrative experience working within a large organisation with formal administrative structures, policies and procedures, preferably in a tertiary educational institution.
  • Customer service or student administrative experience, preferably in a tertiary educational institution.
  • Understanding of the student journey.
