Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Payroll and Finance Officer to join our team at Sofitel Sydney Wentworth, a luxury 5-star hotel in the heart of Sydney.

About the Role:

As our Payroll and Finance Officer, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end weekly payroll cycle, from processing and reviewing to submitting for payment and management reporting. You will also assist in the month-end closing process, prepare journal entries, and account reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the weekly payroll cycle, including processing, reviewing, and submitting payments
  • Prepare and verify monthly accruals for salaries, wages, and on-costs
  • Assist in the month-end closing process, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Calculate termination, redundancy, and other payments
  • Manage the payroll financial year-end process
  • Monthly and yearly reporting cycle, including Superannuation, Payroll Tax, FBT & WGEA
  • Partner with Human Resources to manage the payroll enquiry and compliance cycle
  • Project manage the onboarding of a new Food & Beverage department and team, creating roster templates and reporting tools
  • Responsible for System Administration
  • Post revenue journals daily to ensure accurate room revenue balances
  • Review Night Audit packs daily to ensure accuracy of rebates, paid outs, officer checks, discounts, and complimentary forms
  • Reconcile the hotel's daily receipt of cash, cheques, foreign currencies, and arrange banking
  • Maintain cash floats to meet operational requirements and ensure accountability through house bank contracts, monthly cash audits, and cash variance reports

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a hotel setting
  • Energetic and enthusiastic attitude, with a strong willingness to learn and grow
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel
