Cloud Engineer Role

The primary responsibility of this role is to design, develop and maintain cloud-based systems ensuring stability, security and efficiency within the Commission's cloud environment.

This position involves leveraging expertise in cloud services (Azure/AWS), infrastructure management, server administration and database expertise. The Cloud Engineer plays a key role in project delivery, SME escalations for incident response and continuous improvement aligned with the Commission's cloud-first principle and Essential 8 recommendations.

Additionally, proficiency in virtualization, storage platforms and networking technologies is required to support the development of new features and services as well as resolution of system issues. Knowledge and experience in cloud networking, automation and AI for Operations are highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cloud Administration: Administering MS Cloud services including Identity, Exchange, Teams, Intune and SharePoint.
  • Cloud Networking: Participating in the design, deployment and maintenance of cloud network infrastructure.
  • Technical Support & Projects: Serving as a technical SME for ICT Operations providing guidance on cloud computing security requirements and supporting new technology implementations to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Security & Compliance: Collaborating with IT Security to align SOE security hardening with PSPF, ISM, ACSC and CIS guidelines.
  • Automation & Deployment: Developing and enhancing automated processes for reliable solution deployment; managing application packaging and deployment via Intune with IT Security endorsement.
  • Device Evaluations & System Monitoring: Participating in ICT Operations device evaluations and ensuring applications and infrastructure perform efficiently.
  • AI for Operations: Utilizing skills and experience to prepare ICT Operations for the continued adoption and utilisation of AI.
