Job Opportunity:
The role of a journalist in our news service is both challenging and rewarding. Working in a regional newsroom offers a unique opportunity to take ownership of your market and report on a wide range of topics including environment, sport, politics, and more.
As a journalist, you will be responsible for researching, compiling and producing high-quality news stories for our weekday news bulletins. This involves liaising with editors and camera operators to ensure that our bulletins meet deadline and are of the highest standards.
We are seeking an experienced professional who possesses a university qualification in journalism and at least one year of relevant experience. You should have excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as a demonstrated understanding of how to compile a ratings-winning bulletin.
You should also possess knowledge of local, national and international news stories affecting the community, as well as a demonstrated understanding and working knowledge of media law. Additionally, you should have accuracy and excellent attention to detail, as well as the ability to meet deadlines through effective time management.
As a member of our team, you will have the capacity to operate in a team environment, contributing positively to working relationships. You should also have the ability to identify story opportunities and operate with initiative and flexibility.
