As a financial controller at Cardinia, you will be responsible for maintaining the accuracy and organisation of our financial records. From general ledger to accounts payable and receivable, your attention to detail will ensure we stay on track.

We are a multi-award-winning design developer of innovative and smart hardware for the building, transport, and furniture industries. Our financial reporting is key to our success, and we require an individual who can prepare balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements on time and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Recordkeeping: Ensure all financial records are accurate, complete, and up-to-date.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare timely and accurate financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Tax Preparation: Assist with the preparation and submission of tax returns, including GST, BAS (Business Activity Statement), and payroll taxes.
  • Reconciliation: Handle monthly and annual reconciliations for accounts such as bank, credit cards, and vendor statements.
  • Budgets & Forecasting: Work closely with the finance team to support budgeting, financial forecasting, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Compliance & Regulations: Ensure compliance with accounting standards (AASB) and local and national regulations.
  • Accounts Management: Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring all invoices and payments are processed promptly and accurately.
  • Process Improvement: Identify areas for improvement in our financial systems and processes, and suggest ways to increase efficiency.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field is required.
  • Experience: Previous experience in accounting or a similar role for at least 2 years is essential.
  • Certifications: Working toward the CPA (Certified Practicing Accountant) or CA (Chartered Accountant) certification is desirable.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) and tax regulations (GST, PAYG).
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Xero).
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
