We are seeking a friendly and passionate Dog Trainer to work on a casual/part-time basis at our Burleigh Waters store. The role will involve delivering dog training classes and one-on-one training sessions, as well as retail sales assistance when required.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A genuine passion for animal behavior and training, with experience or qualifications in positive reinforcement methods
  • A strong commitment to the welfare and care of animals
  • Effective public speaking and presentation skills
  • High integrity, motivation, and a proactive approach to work
  • Composure under stress and pressure
  • Excellent communication skills, able to engage with customers and colleagues alike
  • Ideal candidates will have some retail experience working in a high-volume environment, such as Petbarn
  • A customer-centric approach, with a focus on providing exceptional service
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
  • Animal studies qualifications or certifications would be highly regarded
  • A willingness to continuously learn and improve skills in science-based animal training

In addition to delivering dog training programs, your initial onboarding will include retail training and store procedures, as well as in-depth training on Pet Academy classes and operations. You must be reliable, flexible regarding working days and hours, and capable of working independently.

You will be required to deliver dog training content as provided, adhering to our animal welfare and ethics guidelines. Regular paid training sessions with senior trainers will help refresh and improve your skills.

This role requires physical fitness and ability to handle dogs of various sizes, including large breeds. You may also be required to lift heavy items up to 20kg. As we continue to grow and expand our services, you may be involved in training other species, such as cats and aquatic animals.
