Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Metal Fabricator to join our team. As a Metal Fabricator, you will be responsible for setting up tools and operating machinery required to meet production demands or die correction.

This role involves troubleshooting and problem-solving die machine and technology failures, as well as interpreting technical drawings and instructions to understand specifications of task.

The ideal candidate will have a trade qualification in metalwork and at least 3 years' experience in the industry. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to accurately interpret technical drawings and instructions.

You will be working with precision measuring instruments, checking fabricated and assembled metal components for accuracy, clearance, and fit. You will also set up prescribed cutting and shaping tools and accurately set controls.

Fabricating and forming metal stock and castings to fine tolerances using machining tools, such as press, cut, grind, plane, bore, and drill metal, is a key part of this role.

In addition to your technical skills, you will need to be able to work independently and effectively as part of a team to ensure that company objectives, such as process optimisation, manufacturing cost, delivery performance, and recovery are maintained to within organisational goals.

  • Main Responsibilities
  • Interpret technical drawings and instructions to understand specifications of task
  • Plan the sequence of necessary actions to complete task
  • Accurately identify tools/equipment required, measure and mark materials required for job
  • Check fabricated and assembled metal components for accuracy, clearance, and fit using precision measuring instruments
  • Set up prescribed cutting and shaping tools and accurately set controls
  • Fabricate and form metal stock and castings to fine tolerances using machining tools
  • Diagnose faults and perform operational maintenance on equipment to ensure it works correctly
  • Independently operate to perform basic maintenance on equipment
  • Ensure that company objectives are met to within organisational goals
