Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) Job Description

  • Key Responsibilities
  • Providing routine daily nursing care to residents and patients according to regulatory standards.
  • Maintaining accurate Plan of Care records for residents/patients
  • Performing assigned ADLs including hygiene, elimination, comfort, safety, ambulation, lifting, skin care, nutrition, and hydration
  • Assisting with dying resident care and post-mortem procedures
  • Observing/reporting pressure areas and skin breakdown
  • Assisting with nursing treatments as required
  • Providing daily rehabilitative/restorative procedures
  • Maintaining a calm environment and ensuring warmth/personal interest
  • Responding promptly to resident calls

Operations Management

  • Inspecting rooms for medications/unauthorized items and reporting findings to the Charge Nurse
  • Maintaining cleanliness/sanitation/safety in resident/patient rooms/work areas/equipment
  • Attending care conferences as directed
  • Participating in all-employee/department meetings/in-service training
  • Sharing observations/insights on department operations to improve quality/efficiencies

Administration and Reporting

  • Recording entries like ADL coding/intake/output/temperatures/weight in EMR as directed
  • Reporting changes in residents'/patients' conditions to the Charge Nurse
  • Reporting concerns/complaints voiced/shared by residents/patients/family members
