Seeking a seasoned legal professional to join our team as Legal Counsel. In this pivotal role, you'll contribute to the delivery of high-quality legal services that support the organisation's strategic and operational goals.

You will report to the General Counsel and manage a diverse portfolio of legal matters independently. Provide expert legal advice to senior management and staff, and represent the organisation in hearings and forums. Draft complex legal documents, including contracts, deeds, and voluntary planning agreements. Guide and mentor junior legal staff across regulatory compliance, litigation, and strategic legal planning.

This is a dynamic, high-impact role for a legal professional who thrives in a fast-paced, values-driven environment. The ideal candidate has demonstrated in-house experience, preferably within the public sector. A strong track record of managing complex legal matters and regulatory interactions is essential. Your ability to navigate multiple projects with competing priorities, combined with high-level problem-solving and interpersonal skills, enables you to build trusted relationships while maintaining professional objectivity.

Expertise in briefing external counsel and legal providers is required, along with a current unrestricted Australian Practicing Certificate. Knowledge of local government operations in New South Wales and relevant legislation is highly desirable. A current driver's licence is also preferred.
