About the Role

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic financial leadership and advice to the agency on a range of initiatives, investments, and business needs.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation and regulatory requirements, including financial and budget management, financial accounting, cost recovery, and special accounts.
  • Lead the execution of month-end financial and reporting processes, including payroll, accruals, prepayments, depreciation, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Develop and maintain financial policies, controls, and standard operating procedures, and ensure currency with external rules, standards, and frameworks.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including the Department of Climate Change, Energy, Environment and Water, Department of Finance, and the Australian National Audit Office.
Requirements
  • At least 10 years of experience in financial management, budgeting, and financial operations.
  • Tertiary qualifications in accounting/commerce or a related field, and a current membership of either CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand.
  • Extensive experience preparing, interpreting, analyzing, and presenting complex annual financial statements and periodic financial reports.
  • Demonstrated experience in cost recovery practices and development of new pricing proposals.
  • Proven ability to lead a high-performing team, with evidence of collaboration, trust-building, and support for emerging skills.
  • Ability to interpret appropriate legislation and accounting standards, and to implement accounting and reporting reforms.
What We Offer

The Clean Energy Regulator offers a competitive salary package, including a base salary of $164,908 per annum, with an individual flexibility arrangement (IFA) negotiated with the successful candidate depending on skills and experience.

Deputy Chief Financial Officer

Candidates applying for the Chief Financial Officer role may also be considered for the newly established position of Deputy Chief Financial Officer. This position is also an Executive Level 2 position, reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, with a remuneration package commencing at $139,991 + Superannuation.
