About the Job

We're seeking a talented and experienced legal professional to join our team as a Legal Counsel. Based in Newcastle, this role will involve advising on operational risk, implementing RED's legal policies, and assisting with disputes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Risk Management: Proactively advise on and identify operational risk, ensuring the company's compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Policies and Procedures: Assist with the implementation of RED's legal policies, processes, and standard contracts, including ongoing review and revision.
  • Dispute Resolution: Assist with disputes, including advice on and participation in alternative dispute resolution (ADR).
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the company's compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including those related to employment, health and safety, and environmental protection.
Requirements
  • Qualifications and Experience: An English qualified solicitor with 2 years' post-qualification experience, either in-house or with a well-regarded regional, national, or City firm.
  • Skills and Qualities: Consistently demonstrates autonomy, efficiency, and resourcefulness in executing tasks to meet deadlines. Proven experience working with stakeholders of varying seniority across an organization in a fast-paced environment.
  • Construction Law Background: Non-contentious construction law background with working knowledge of internationally recognized construction agreements, including FIDIC, NEC, and ACE.
  • International Working: Good understanding of international working and business operations of a global consultancy.
  • Personal Qualities: Self-starter with high levels of initiative and motivation, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and high competence in drafting skills.
