Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated professional to join our team in supporting the delivery and execution of environmental and social impact assessment studies.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in a similar role, preferably within the mining and resources industry, and demonstrate expertise in environmental management and impact assessments.

They will also possess excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate cooperation amongst a multi-disciplinary team.

Key responsibilities include preparing mine management plans for exploration and mining activities, assisting in obtaining regulatory approvals for exploration and capital projects, identifying environmental and social risks associated with land access and regulatory approval pathways, supporting consultants to deliver technical and social assessment studies required for environmental approval applications, and assisting in preparing forecast budgets, monthly accruals, schedule updates, and 2-yearly work plans.

About GEMCO

GEMCO is an open-cut mine on Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, accountable for over 20% of global manganese ore production.

About the Role

This is a permanent full-time position on a 4:3 roster (Monday to Thursday).

You will be responsible for supporting the delivery and execution of environmental and social impact assessment studies.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing Mine Management Plans for exploration and mining activities
  • Assisting in obtaining regulatory approvals for exploration and capital projects
  • Identifying environmental and social risks associated with land access and regulatory approval pathways
  • Supporting consultants to deliver technical and social assessment studies required for environmental approval applications

About You

As a candidate, you should have experience and demonstrate capability in the following areas:

  • Significant experience in a similar role, preferably within the mining and resources industry
  • Knowledge of Federal and Northern Territory environmental legislation and approval processes
  • Demonstrated expertise in environmental management and impact assessments
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate cooperation amongst a multi-disciplinary team
