The Role
We are seeking a mid-level Geotechnical Engineer to join our tailings team in Brisbane, Queensland. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated experience in tailings dam design with knowledge of the design principles for upstream & downstream embankment dams, concrete faced and geomembrane lined rockfill dams, spillways and water management systems.
The successful candidate will hold a bachelor's degree in civil/geotechnical/geo-environmental engineering with a minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience, preferably from a consulting environment. A mix of design office and site-based experience would be considered favorably.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the planning, execution and acquisition of quality field data and when appropriate the analysis of this geotechnical data including geotechnical logging and mapping.
- Compilation and presentation of field investigation results for input, which leads to the creation of design parameters.
- Ensure specifications, design and analysis meet client requirements.
Our Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Degree qualification in Engineering with either Geotechnical or Civil specialisations.
- Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience within the mining industry and experience with earth fill dam construction.
- An understanding in technical aspects of geotechnical investigations, civil/geotechnical designs, documentation and civil/geotechnical projects.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills.
- A proven track record on site project management and client liaison and able to demonstrate ability to maintain relationships with stakeholders.
- Familiarity with use of Slope/W, Plaxis, Flac and AutoCad software will have added advantages.
