About the Role

KPMG Law's Tax Dispute Resolution and Controversy team is seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager to join our dynamic and growing team. As a Senior Manager, you will play a key role in advising clients on complex tax issues and disputes, and will have the opportunity to work with a range of clients and subject matter specialists across KPMG and externally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare for and resolve disputes with the ATO, AusIndustry and State/Territory revenue authorities, including working on complex reviews and audits, preparing objections, briefing counsel, alternative dispute resolution processes and tax litigation in State and Federal tribunals and courts.
  • Work with clients to develop written and oral advocacy and dispute resolution skills and provide legal advice (including taxation law and administrative law).
  • Collaborate with many other specialist groups across KPMG's Tax & Legal practice in Australia, as well as internationally (many clients are multinationals), is also a feature of many of the team's engagements.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in corporate tax, international tax, tax law and/or tax dispute resolution and controversy in either a Big 4 professional services firm, a law firm or the Australian Taxation Office, with prior Big 4 experience viewed favourably.
  • Ability to quickly establish a high level of stakeholder engagement, and able to hold the role of an advisor to the business and be an expert on a topical area(s) of tax law.
  • Ability to integrate information from a variety of different sources, consider the broader impact of issues and how it will affect the project, engagement and the business.
