About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced journalist to join our WIN News team in Hervey Bay. As a regional newsroom offers a unique opportunity to take ownership of your market and report on a wide range of topics, including environment, sport, politics, and more. This role allows you to make a real difference in the community and is truly rewarding work.
Key Responsibilities- Research and compile high-quality news stories for our weekday news bulletins
- Liaise with editors and camera operators to ensure our bulletins meet deadline and are of the highest standards
- Work closely with the State News Director to develop and implement news strategies
- University qualification in journalism
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated understanding of how to compile a ratings-winning bulletin
- Knowledge of local, national, and international news stories affecting the community
- Demonstrated understanding and working knowledge of media law
- Accuracy and excellent attention to detail
- Ability to meet deadlines through effective time management
- Capacity to operate in a team environment, contributing positively to working relationships
- Ability to identify story opportunities and operate with initiative and flexibility
- Positive work ethic and the ability and willingness to learn new systems and processes
