Curtin University is seeking a highly experienced and innovative leader to join our team as Deputy Director, Learning and Engagement. As a key member of our senior leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in driving strategic initiatives that support student learning, frontline services, and community engagement.

Job Description

This senior management position leads a portfolio encompassing the Client Engagement team and the Learning Success team, with a focus on developing and implementing strategies that align with the University's objectives and emerging trends in academic libraries, pedagogy, and student support programs.

  • Strategic Direction & Planning: Develop and implement strategies that align with the University's objectives and emerging trends in academic libraries, pedagogy, and student support programs.
  • Leadership & Business Transformation: Provide strategic portfolio-level leadership for the Client Engagement and Learning Success teams, fostering a culture of innovation, excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • People Management: Mentor and inspire staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment by providing guidance and support to team members in the delivery of services and initiatives to ensure individual growth and development.
  • Ancillary Services: Oversee the development and delivery of academic skills and digital literacy support programs, ensuring they are aligned with Curtin's Graduate Capabilities and curriculum needs.
  • Client Support Services: Manage the delivery of first-line client support services, including enquiry, reference, and circulation services, ensuring consistent service delivery across all Curtin campuses and partner sites.
  • Global Campus Service Delivery: Ensure equivalence of library services and collections at global campuses and partner sites, maintaining high-quality support for Curtin staff and students.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • A relevant postgraduate qualification and extensive experience at senior management level within a complex management environment.
  • Considerable expertise and extensive experience in the development and effective delivery of services in a large academic library or similar organisation.
  • Proven skills in leading, motivating and developing a large team, including the ability to drive and implement organisational change in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in responding to emerging and competing priorities to deliver significant initiatives in a volatile environment.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills alongside interpersonal skills of a calibre required to develop and maintain nuanced relationships and partnerships with staff and students, senior managers, professional colleagues, and external organisations.

The estimated salary range for this role is $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, commensurate with experience. We offer a competitive benefits package and opportunities for professional growth and development.
