About the Role:

The Recruitment Alternative is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our client's Workshop Team as a Workshop Assistant - Security Fencing Specialist. Our client is a successful family-owned business with over four decades of experience in providing security fencing solutions for commercial, industrial, and public facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Warehouse Manager in the receipt and dispatch of goods and materials
  • Support basic production and welding activities, with training provided for those with no prior experience
  • Update plans and job specifications, as well as collect data and site measurements as necessary
  • Coordinate material pickup and transportation to and from site
  • Communicate with clients to keep them informed of project progress and any changes
  • Inspect completed jobs and follow up with any rectifications required
  • Coordinate tasks to meet critical deadlines
  • Undertake manual labor, including the use of general hand and power tools

Requirements:

  • 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing or workshop environment (desirable)
  • A forklift license is essential for handling materials and equipment safely
  • Basic understanding of workshop drawings and plans
  • Professional, positive, and friendly attitude towards all staff, contractors, and customers
  • Strong mathematical skills for accurate job measurements
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent time-management and punctuality
  • Ability to work within Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) guidelines and policies
  • Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure high-quality production standards
  • Must be physically fit and able to lift heavier items
  • Driver's license and own transport (must be able to drive a manual)
  • Construction White Card (or willing to attain)
  • Computer proficiency in Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • MUST be in Australia and have full working rights
