About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Lead Technician to join our team at the Abra Mine, a state-of-the-art lead-silver project in Western Australia. This is a full-time position based at the mine site.

Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting underground technical work, including face sampling, mapping, ROM sampling, and management of sample submissions to onsite and external laboratories. Additionally, they will assist in the development and implementation of systems and procedures, manage core processing, and supervise underground drilling and mining contractors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct face mapping and sampling, backs and walls mapping, stope inspections, and other geology-related primary mine tasks.
- ROM mapping and sampling.
- Data entry tasks as required.
- Assist in the development of grade control procedures and lead the technician team to develop and improve the procedure database.
- Completion of core preparation, basic geotechnical logging or core, and core sampling (including despatch).
- Assist mine geologists with field duties, data collection, and collation.
- Weekly and monthly consumable stocktakes for the underground and core processing.
- Ensure compliance with all safety guidelines in the underground environment and in the core yard.
- Train and mentor junior geologists and field technicians.
- Assist with QAQC tracking, documentation, and lab audits.
- Complete field and underground projects designated by the Senior Geologist and/or Geology Superintendent.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A minimum of 5 years' experience within the resources industry.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in an underground environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Attention to detail and ability to ensure completion of assigned tasks.
- An outcome-focused attitude with well-developed self-management skills.
- The ability to meet established timeframes and solve daily problems that arise.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, especially with learning from more experienced colleagues.
- Advanced computer literacy skills with strong Microsoft Office suite skills.
- Working knowledge in LogChief logging software desirable.
- Awareness of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations.
- A sound understanding of data management and validation processes.
Benefits
This role offers a competitive salary of $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience. In addition, you will receive:
- FIFO 8:6 Dayshift, 8:6 Dayshift, 7:7 Night-Shift roster ex Perth or DIDO ex Meekatharra and surrounds.
