About the Role

Austin Health is seeking a highly motivated and self-driven Medical Scientist Grade 2 to join our Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing routine molecular assays, analyzing and interpreting NGS data, and developing and assessing bioinformatics workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine molecular assays and analyze NGS data using bioinformatics tools
  • Develop and assess bioinformatics workflows for next-generation sequencing (NGS) data
  • Comply with Pathology Quality Management and adhere to NPAAC and NATA standards

Requirements

  • Relevant degree in genetics, molecular biology, or bioinformatics
  • Experience in NGS data analysis, curation, and implementation of software applications
  • Knowledge of bioinformatics workflows and programming languages such as Python and RStudio
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a relevant molecular pathology laboratory
