**Job Description**

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Cloud Engineer with extensive experience in building scalable backend services and APIs for SaaS platforms to join our team at Laing O'Rourke. The ideal candidate will have a strong software engineering background using Python, ReactJS, PostgreSQL, and software frameworks such as Django.

The successful candidate will design and develop high-quality, scalable backend services and APIs using Python, Django, and PostgreSQL, adhering to engineering best practices. They will also implement microservices and event-driven architectures using AWS services like Lambda, API Gateway, Aurora, and EKS. In addition, they will develop web-based UIs using React and TypeScript, as well as integrate with 3rd party applications and services using various approaches.

This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders, guiding the definition, design, and implementation of new product features. The candidate will actively review solution designs and help maintain code quality and organization through code reviews. They will also identify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugs.

**Key Requirements**

  • 10+ years of proven experience as a Full Stack Engineer or similar role
  • Solid software engineering background with experience in writing software for backend systems / APIs/ services and web-based UIs using programming languages (such as Python and ReactJs), relational databases (such as PostgresSQL), and frameworks (such as Django)
  • 3+ years of experience in building applications using cloud-native applications in AWS using services such as Lambda, API Gateway, RDS
  • Strong track record of using modern application architectures such as microservices and event-driven architectures

**Preferred Qualifications**

  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices using tools such as Gitlab
  • Experience in development of B2B SaaS platforms

The estimated salary for this role is $120,000 - $150,000 per year, based on location and industry standards.
