About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Commercial Lawyer to join our team in Australia and New Zealand. As a key member of our Foods Marketing team, you will provide legal support and guidance on marketing and advertising materials, promotions, and consumer communications.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading legal support for Foods marketing teams in Australia and New Zealand, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and corporate policies;
  • Reviewing and revising marketing and advertising materials, including promotions and consumer communications, with a focus on social media legal risks;
  • Providing guidance on privacy laws regarding the collection and use of personal information for targeted marketing;
  • Assisting the e-Commerce team in maintaining accurate product claims and legal support for online operations;
  • Drafting, negotiating, and managing marketing-related agreements, including sponsorships and talent contracts;
  • Monitoring food law trends and regulatory changes, advising the business on implications and competitor claims;
  • Delivering training on compliance topics such as Anti-Bribery and Consumer Law while managing outside legal counsel effectively;
  • Collaborating with internal teams to enhance legal operations and promote a safe and healthy work environment.

What You'll Need

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 4-6 years PQE in consumer, IP, or commercial law, preferably within a multinational food and beverage or FMCG environment;
  • An Australian legal qualification with an active practicing certificate;
  • A background in intellectual property, consumer law, and competition law is highly preferred;
  • A strong understanding of social media platforms, associated legal risks, and privacy laws;
  • Highly proactive and confident, demonstrating initiative in various situations;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, engaging senior stakeholders and making challenging decisions;
  • Proven leadership skills, able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team;
  • Exceptional project management, time management, and organizational skills, combined with strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
