
Financial Strategist

As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the financial future of our organization. You will lead the development of labour and overhead budgets, rates and pricing frameworks, ensuring costs are allocated accurately and recovered through major programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement ASC's labour and overhead budgets and rate setting processes, ensuring accurate cost allocation and recovery.
- Oversight of significant cost pools and monthly allocations, variance analysis, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and Earned Value Management (EVM) metrics.
- Provide strategic financial advice, reporting, and analysis to senior leaders and program managers, informing business decisions and driving growth.
- Lead annual rate reviews and approvals, including customer true-ups, to ensure alignment with market conditions and organizational goals.
- Partner with stakeholders across support functions and programs to guide and influence decision-making, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
- Support bids and pricing activities, ensuring financial considerations are embedded in proposals, and drive business development initiatives.
- Document and enforce key project accounting processes to ensure compliance and consistency, maintaining the highest standards of financial governance.
- Engage with and support external and customer audits, demonstrating transparency and accountability.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across systems, processes, and reporting frameworks, embracing innovation and best practices.
- Contribute to finance system improvement initiatives and workplace change projects, leveraging expertise to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Requirements
A highly capable finance professional with proven experience in project financial management and the ability to influence, partner, and advise at senior levels. Combine technical expertise with strong communication and problem-solving skills, and thrive in a complex environment. The ideal candidate should possess:
- Tertiary qualifications in Commerce or Accounting, with full CA/CPA/CIMA membership.
- Demonstrated experience in project financial management and/or pricing and cost allocation.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate financial data into clear insights and actionable recommendations.
- Proven stakeholder engagement and business partnering capability, with a track record of building trust and driving results.
- Proactive, solutions-focused mindset, with resilience in a fast-moving environment and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Experience in Defence, ERP systems, or earned value techniques is highly desirable.
