Thoracic Surgery Fellow Position

The Royal Melbourne Hospital's Thoracic Surgical Service is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Thoracic Surgery Fellow to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of high-quality patient care, participating in surgical procedures, and contributing to the development of the service.

About the Role

  • Assist in the performance of over 600 thoracic surgical cases per year.
  • Participate in 3 clinics and 2 MDMs (Multidisciplinary Meetings) weekly.
  • Contribute to the development of the Thoracic Surgical Service.
  • Collaborate with a team of specialist Thoracic Surgeons, a non-accredited Thoracic Surgery Registrar, and other healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Surgical assistance in thoracic surgical cases.
  • Participation in multidisciplinary meetings and clinics.
  • Service development and improvement initiatives.
  • Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Requirements

  • Completion of Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons or equivalent qualification.
  • A strong understanding of thoracic surgery principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
