Child Mental Health Clinician Opportunity

The Royal Children's Hospital provides a unique opportunity for early career mental health clinicians to develop their skills and experience working with children aged 0-11 and their families.

This two-year program will equip you with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to work effectively in a child-centred community care model. You will spend one year working in our Brimbank Melton Children's Health and Wellbeing Local and one year in our Infant, Child and Family Mental Health and Wellbeing services.

Our department offers a range of services, including assessment, intervention, and support to children and their families with moderate psychosocial and developmental challenges. Our approach is prevention-focused, with an emphasis on empowerment of families and communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage children and their families in recovery-focused clinical care
  • Provide evidence-based interventions
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and agency partners to provide high-quality inter-disciplinary care
  • Develop your skills and experience over the two-year program, progressively increasing your autonomy
  • Participate in professional development activities to maintain best clinical practice

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Hold an OT degree qualification or equivalent from an accredited course/ university
  • Be registered with AHPRA and have satisfied continuing professional development and recency of practice requirements
  • Uphold the Code of Ethics, OT Australia
  • Desire for a career in mental health with children aged 0-11 and their families
