As an Organics Chemist, you will play a pivotal role in our laboratory-based team, conducting complex analyses using advanced instrumentation such as GC-MS and LC-MS.

Job Description

This technical position involves ensuring timely and accurate delivery of results to clients. You will take ownership of your work and support the team through mentoring and knowledge sharing.

The successful candidate will have excellent analytical skills and be able to interpret data with a high degree of accuracy. Strong time management and independent working skills are essential for this role.

You will also be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting laboratory instruments to ensure optimal uptime, and monitoring chemical and consumable stock levels to maintain 100% availability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform sample preparation and conduct complex analyses, prioritising work by due dates and urgency
  • Interpret and report results with a high degree of accuracy, ensuring data integrity and compliance
  • Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory instruments to ensure optimal uptime
  • Monitor chemical and consumable stock levels, maintaining 100% availability
  • Train and support junior team members, contributing to a collaborative lab environment
  • Assist with documentation, audits, and continuous improvement in line with industry standards

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in Science (Chemistry or related discipline)
  • 1-2 years of experience in laboratory testing, preferably environmental
  • Strong practical experience with GC-MS/LC-MS operation and data interpretation
  • Excellent analytical, time management, and independent working skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities while meeting tight deadlines
  • Clear communication and a collaborative approach to working within technical teams
