We are seeking a Regional HSE Manager, Lead to assist our business leaders in synchronizing and managing HSE initiatives and processes. This pivotal role entails direct support for 6 operational sites, oversight of 4 additional sites, and guidance on a new warehouse development in New South Wales. The position is essential for effectively managing HSE risks across the region while mentoring leaders and site personnel to enhance HSE performance. We require a skilled HSE professional with a background in warehousing or a related sector, complemented by formal HSE education, who will lead one direct report, the Regional Manager, HSE NSW.
It is crucial to maintain a consistent HSE presence on-site to collaborate with frontline leaders, fostering safety awareness, competency, and a culture centered around 'safety first'. You will spearhead investigations into significant HSE incidents or accidents, assisting sites in identifying root causes and implementing corrective measures to avert future occurrences.
With a strong focus on internal and external stakeholders, your ability to influence and engage is vital for nurturing positive relationships. This role demands an effective communicator capable of delivering precise and timely HSE performance reports to business leaders and clients while liaising with all relevant personnel.
Key Responsibilities as the Regional HSE Manager, Lead:
- Provide direct on-site HSE guidance and support to operational locations, including the preparation and delivery of regular HSE meetings and Toolbox Talks.
- Coordinate and implement training programs to enhance comprehension and effectiveness of HSE management systems, risk management practices, and safety leadership initiatives.
- Conduct incident investigations utilizing approved methodologies to accurately identify causal factors and associated improvement actions.
- Develop and review HSE Improvement Plans in collaboration with business leaders, ensuring alignment with broader Company HSE strategies, objectives, and targets.
- Monitor adherence to Company and statutory HSE regulations, including participation in regular HSE audits and inspections with operational stakeholders.
- Assist in the preparation and facilitation of HSE review forums and Management of Change processes.
- Deliver accurate and timely HSE performance reports to business leaders and clients as necessary.
Qualifications for Success:
- A minimum of 8 years of practical experience in an HSE role.
- Experience within the warehousing and logistics sector.
- Experience supporting multiple sites or a geographically diverse organization is advantageous.
Essential Technical/Professional Skills:
- Comprehensive knowledge of HSE legislation and the application of risk management principles.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in interpreting and analyzing HSE legislation and audit criteria.
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, including the ability to effectively engage with team members, management stakeholders, employees, and clients.
- Experience in conducting incident investigations using ICAM or similar methodologies.
- Certification IV or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Auditing qualifications/training are preferred.
