Job Title: Senior Strategic Leader

This is a pivotal role in guiding transformational change and driving government reform agendas.

The successful candidate will contribute to the development of major strategic and operational policy initiatives to support effective and efficient service delivery aligned with Departmental objectives and whole-of-government priorities.

  1. Provide Strategic Leadership: Demonstrating public service values, encouraging continuous improvement, and supporting the vision of becoming the best public sector in Australia.
  2. Support Policy Development: Providing strategic advice and leadership on building legislation, codes, policy, and standards.
  3. Maintain a High-Performance Culture: Promoting and maintaining a high-performance, continuous improvement-oriented workplace culture consistent with departmental values.
  4. Monitor and Report: Maintaining effective monitoring and reporting protocols to ensure service delivery and budgetary performance align with Divisional and whole-of-government priorities.
  5. Innovate and Implement: Developing and implementing innovative strategies and policies that enhance built environment and asset management, aligned with government priorities.
  6. Optimise Service Delivery: Identifying and leading operational efficiencies and change management initiatives to optimise service delivery and reduce red tape.
  7. Foster Relationships: Fostering strong relationships and negotiating with Local, State, and Federal Agencies, as well as other key stakeholders, to advance policy development and address state-specific concerns.
  8. Represent the Department: Representing the Department at significant forums to ensure Queensland's interests are addressed.
  9. Provide Advice: Providing high-quality, evidence-based advice and briefing notes to inform decision-making and respond to Ministerial and Departmental correspondence.
  10. Manage Staff Performance: Managing staff performance and development, providing coaching and mentoring to build capability and achieve organisational outcomes.
  11. Drive Workforce Initiatives: Driving workforce initiatives to create a cohesive, performance-oriented culture and identify resource and capability needs for future workforce planning.

Key Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • Significant experience in policy development, strategic leadership, and project management.
  • Demonstrated expertise in building legislation, codes, policy, and standards.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
