We are seeking a skilled Steel Fabrication Coordinator to join our team. This role is responsible for transforming blueprints and project requirements into actionable production plans. By deciphering architectural and engineering drawings, they create comprehensive schedules that guide the entire manufacturing process.

Responsibilities include:

  • Interpreting architectural and engineering drawings to create manufacturable schedules for operations.
  • Liaising with branch managers and operations for project planning and prioritisation of existing workload.
  • Liaising with sales teams and customers' estimators to establish scope of works.
  • Reviewing tender documents including structural, civil, and architectural drawings, and specifications, and preparing material takeoffs for quotation.
  • Soliciting subcontractor and/or supplier information and pricing.
  • Preparing instructions to tenderers, tender forms, and other tender solicitation information as required.
  • Preparing conceptual budgets based on minimal information.
  • Identifying opportunities for the supply of niche products.
  • Reviewing general conditions, schedule, scopes of work, plans, site logistics, and other materials as prepared by operations.
  • Ensuring the flow of project information is maintained and documented.
  • Reviewing constructability issues with operational staff.
  • Analysing alternate means and methods to determine the most economical alternative.
  • Maintaining and communicating data on construction and material cost trends affecting project costs.
  • Developing, maintaining, and storing historical estimating data.
  • Analysing and reporting departmental performance.
  • Identifying potential stock issues to avoid possible project delays.
  • Utilising software provided to develop, store, and maintain historical estimating data.
