Job Title: Speech Therapist Role

 

The role of the Speech Therapist involves providing therapy services to students in educational settings and developing capacity within schools to meet the needs of diverse learners.

 

This includes working within a consultative framework involving students, parents, teachers, learning support staff, therapists, administration, and external agencies.

 

The successful candidate will have formal qualifications in speech therapy at degree level, eligibility for membership of a relevant professional association, and demonstrated ability to select and apply current methodologies in the provision of speech therapy services in an educational setting.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized therapy sessions to students with communication disorders
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify student needs and determine the effectiveness of interventions
  • Develop and maintain relationships with families and caregivers to ensure seamless communication and support
  • Pursue ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices and research in the field

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in speech-language pathology or a related field
  • Eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia or a similar professional association
  • Demonstrated expertise in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of communication disorders
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced educational environment
