Job Title: Site Safety Inspector - Coal Mining

We are seeking an experienced Site Safety Inspector - Coal Mining to join our team at the Carmichael Mine in central Queensland. As a key member of our safety team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of all personnel working in and around the open cut operation of our mine.

About the Role

The Site Safety Inspector - Coal Mining will be responsible for overseeing the mining operations to ensure compliance with the requirements of the CMHSA across the mine. This includes:

  • Undertaking statutory inspections every shift within and adjacent to the CCM open cut operations;
  • Reducing unacceptable levels of risk and assisting in developing, reviewing, and auditing the Carmichael Coal mine's safety and health management system;
  • Utilizing your mining knowledge to assist with coal quality, spontaneous combustion, and CHPP interface issues;
  • Assisting in daily production plans with corresponding job safety analysis or risk assessments;
  • Ensuring the timely processing of all relevant documentation;
  • Making safe any unsafe things at the mine as per part 2 of the CMHSA Regs and escalating any safety-related issues as required;
  • Meeting the responsibilities of the Open Cut Examiner as outlined in the Coal Mining Health and Safety Act 2004 and the Coal Mining Health and Safety Regulation 2017;

Requirements of the Role

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A relevant Open Cut Examiners Qualification;
  • Experience working in open-cut coal mining environments;
  • Previous demonstrated experience in successfully managing and leading a team;
  • A strong commitment to safe production and a proven understanding of mining and workplace relations legislations;
  • A proven ability to establish relationships with team members;
  • The ability to motivate people to achieve an outstanding outcome;
  • Computer and systems proficiency;
  • A valid QLD CBM; A valid Practicing Qld OCE examiner qualification issued under the Practicing Certificate Scheme (PCS); Proof of compliance with PCS (Copy of current CPD hours accumulated under the PCS); S1, S2, S3, and G2 qualifications updated within the last 5 years; Valid First aid certificate including CPR; and RIIENV301E certificate and OCE proficiency in Gas Monitoring.

Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per annum
