Workforce Controller Position

The Role Overview is a critical part of Victoria's transport network, providing safe and reliable train services to millions of passengers every year. As a Workforce Controller, you will play a key role in ensuring that our trains run on time and safely.

About the Job Description:

The Workforce Controller coordinates and administers the Roster for all Passenger Locomotive Train Crews. This includes:

  • Implementing the master roster for train crew, ensuring a balanced work allocation while adhering to all awards/EBA Agreements and business rules
  • Maintaining the currency of roster data on the system, ensuring the rosters comply with rostering principles and rail safety
  • Ensuring adequate roster coverage for planned and unplanned disruptions, ensuring all services have driver coverage
  • Allocating operational rosters in line with FAID requirements, and ensuring rosters cater for training, accreditation/reaccreditation, leave, occupations, special events and public holidays

This is an 18-month fixed-term, full-time opportunity with five weeks annual leave, 20% leave loading, superannuation, and free travel cards for metro and regional transport.

You will work on a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays, and be based out of Melbourne. The Job Description is looking for someone with experience in large-scale rostering environments, ideally within the transport or rail industries. You should be a strong communicator, provide superior customer service, and be able to build rapport quickly.

Key Requirements are as follows:

  • Previous rostering experience in an operational environment would be advantageous
  • Experience managing disruptions and supporting daily operational duties
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications and able to produce high-quality business reports by applying analytical processes to mixed data sets to develop insights
