Database Architect

Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Database and Applications Architect to join our IT team at Toshiba. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all Oracle Databases, including application architecture and support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement reliable, high-performance relational database management systems for our core business applications.
• Perform daily administration tasks, including monitoring database and system performance, ensuring successful backups, and developing disaster recovery plans.
• Modify existing databases or instruct developers and analysts on required changes.
• Manage patches at both the database and applications level.
• Provide support to the Applications team.
• Administer Unix systems with backup support from our outsourcing partner.
• Assist with MS-SQL Server database administration as needed.

Requirements:

• Experience in designing, configuring, and maintaining database technologies.
• Proven skills in managing Oracle environments on-premises and in the cloud.
• Strong skills in database programming languages such as SQL.
• Well-developed skills in major operating system platforms like Solaris, Linux, and Windows.
• Proficiency in Unix shell scripting.
• Knowledge of cloud services, including SaaS and IaaS.
• Good understanding of business information needs.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.
