About the Role

Rio Tinto is seeking a highly skilled Global Operations Project Manager to lead our Modern ERP program of work and deliver the successful planning, execution, monitoring, and completion of projects within scope, time, and budget constraints.

The ideal candidate will have advanced project management skills and experience managing large digital transformational programs or projects. They will also possess a deep understanding of industry best practices and organizational standards, as well as expertise in project planning, schedule development, change control, and cost management processes.

The Global Operations Project Manager will be responsible for leading cross-functional teams, coordinating resources, and managing stakeholder expectations to deliver high-quality results that align with business objectives. They will also be accountable for accurate and timely data quality in relevant information systems and ensure all projects adhere to end-to-end project methodology compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, manage, and direct large-scale, complex projects based on a defined need and to achieve project objectives.
  • Define and track project milestones while developing, maintaining, and reporting on an overall integrated delivery plan.
  • Apply management knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to a broad range of tasks to deliver the desired result for a particular project in a timely manner.
  • Execute the project schedule to ensure that the project team completes each activity according to plan.
  • Accountable for the delivery and success of the project and the acceptance of the product by the customer.

Requirements:

  • Project Management qualification – PMI, PRINCE2, Diploma/Certificate in PM, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrates advanced application of competencies in highly complex, dynamic, and challenging situations and contexts.
  • Must demonstrate deep knowledge and experience in these competencies and be recognized as having specialist expertise in all areas.
  • Experience managing large digital transformational programs or projects.
  • Detailed knowledge of the project management methodology, tools, and templates.
  • Sound leadership and people skills: communications, stakeholder management, team building.
  • Organised, yet flexible, person with a strong focus on structure, controls, and processes.
  • Proficient in waterfall methodology and scaled agile framework.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project; Azure DevOps and Microsoft Planner.
