Prosthetic Specialist Role

The role of Prosthetic Specialist involves working closely with multidisciplinary health professionals to establish customised treatment plans for each client. Our philosophy is to comprehensively assess each client, establish their requirements and deliver the appropriate services and products to help them achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities:
• Casting, evaluating, modifying and fitting prostheses as required to achieve client goals and outcomes
• Independently managing a caseload of both transtibial and transfemoral clients
• Attending metropolitan amputee clinics on a regular basis, conferring with medical & allied health practitioners, advising on prescriptions and providing other relevant advice
• Being involved in supervision and training of junior clinical staff within the APC team
• Working with the technical team to assist with the manufacturing of each prosthesis
• Maintaining accurate records of all client attendance, occasion and types of service documenting all aspects of client care
• Understanding and conforming to funding arrangements, required administration and reporting requirements
• Participating and presenting at key annual training events and conferences

Required Skills and Experience:
• Bachelor's or Master's of Prosthetics & Orthotics or equivalent qualifications
• Eligibility for Australian Orthotic & Prosthetic Association membership
• Minimum of 3 years relevant prosthetic experience; including being independently able to manage both transtibial and transfemoral clients
• Strong level of client focus with internal and external stakeholders
• Strong attention to detail, focus and accuracy skills
• Sound relationship building skills
• Sound verbal and written communication and presentation skills
• Sound ability to drive for results and focus on outcomes
• Sound decision making skills
• High ability to show initiative and be proactive
