Job Overview

The role of a Laboratory Specialist involves delivering laboratory activities, including scientific and technical training, review, development, and quality management of practices to ensure compliance with operational standards and procedures.

This position is responsible for operating analyzers, instruments, and manual techniques; proficiency with Laboratory Information Systems and Microsoft Office.

Candidates will have a degree in Science or Medical Laboratory Science from a recognized tertiary institution. They will also have knowledge and experience in a Clinical Chemistry laboratory, as well as customer-focused skills.

  • Patient result review and validation, Quality Control, and external Assurance are key aspects of the job.
  • Skills in monitoring, interpreting, and resolving QC/QA issues are essential.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities to meet deadlines and work both autonomously and in a team.
  • Understanding of legislation, policies, and requirements that impact the laboratory environment is necessary.
