We are seeking a highly skilled Geophysicist to join our Geotechnical team in Sydney. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in enhancing our capabilities and reputation in the field of geophysics.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with project planning and preparation of technical deliverables
- Conduct shallow ground geophysical surveys using various techniques, including seismic, electrical, magnetic, electromagnetic, and GPR
- Participate in over water geophysical surveys, including seismic reflection, refraction, resistivity, magnetic, and bathymetry data
- Manage fieldwork during geophysics investigations and ensure safety on site
- Process and interpret data using industry standard geophysical interpretation software
- Integrate geophysical and geotechnical data
- Maintain and calibrate geophysical equipment
- Use initiative and judgement to resolve problems
- Identify safety hazards and report OH&S incidents
- Liaise with specialists from other disciplines or offices within WSP
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Basic analytical and problem solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good time management ability
- Good attention to detail
- Ability to work efficiently autonomously and in a team environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
- Flexibility to work in the field for extended periods of time
- Australian drivers license
- Bachelor of Science or related discipline majoring in geophysics
- Post Graduate qualification in geophysics preferred but not essential
