About the Role

As a key member of Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation team, you will play a critical role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for our cloud services, including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform.

Our infrastructure comprises a large global portfolio of over 200 datacenters in 32 countries and millions of servers. Our foundation is built upon and managed by a team of subject matter experts working to support services for more than 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses in over 90 countries worldwide.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of electrical systems and their integration with data center operations.
  • Collaborate with commissioning teams to ensure the proper testing and validation of electrical systems, including installation, operation, and performance.
  • Work closely with data center teams to understand the design and functionality of electrical systems and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide technical leadership to optimize the performance of electrical systems and infrastructure during handover and operational phases.
  • Manage permitting and regulatory compliance, ensuring operational practices comply with all relevant standards.
  • Develop and review high-voltage installation safety management plans and operating agreements with supply authorities.
  • Collaborate with energy, design, commissioning, and construction teams to continually improve high-voltage infrastructure.
  • Serve as the point of contact and liaison with network supply authorities for planned and unplanned works to the site interface point.
  • Investigate operations, asset performance, and risk reduction related to incidents or other issues and develop solutions.
  • Lead the planning and implementation of all HV, MV, and LV-related works, including outage planning, operations, maintenance, isolations, and switching.
  • Prepare, review, and approve operating procedures, including MOPs, SOPs, EOPs, switching instructions, and isolation procedures.
  • Mentor and develop personnel in HV systems and the safe application of high-voltage practices.
