Job Overview

  • This position involves working a rotating roster across Monday to Sunday, with varied shifts to suit your lifestyle.
  • You will be based at our Maroochydore Donor Centre in Queensland, where you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in people's lives.

Our organisation is passionate about providing a positive and supportive environment for our employees. As a Nursing Support Specialist, you will be an integral part of our team, working closely with colleagues to achieve our collection targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet and interview potential donors to assess their eligibility and suitability to donate.
  • Create a welcoming and comfortable experience for our donors, ensuring they feel valued and respected throughout the process.
  • Administer routine blood pressure and haemoglobin tests to ensure donor safety and well-being.
  • Set up machines and equipment as required, adhering to strict protocols and procedures.
  • Insert and remove needles safely to collect whole blood, plasma, and platelets, taking great care to maintain the highest standards of hygiene and safety.
  • Monitor donors post-donation and assist them with rebooking their next appointment, providing exceptional customer service at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to meet collection targets, sharing knowledge and expertise to drive success.

As a Nursing Support Specialist, you will undergo comprehensive training to develop your skills and confidence in this role. Our self-paced training program ensures that you are well-supported every step of the way, with opportunities to practice and hone your skills in a safe and controlled environment.

Requirements:

  • Comfortable with interacting with donors and working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to lift between 9-22.7kgs as required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and donors.
  • Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to work varied shifts on a fortnightly rotating roster, including weekends and afternoon shifts.
