Security Design Consultant for Control Risks

As a key member of our Crisis and Security Consulting practice in Australia, this role involves supporting and contributing to the growth of our Security Design Practice across Australia Pacific. You will work on various security design-led projects across Australia and New Zealand, providing assistance to our design team with deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop project plans and travel to client sites as needed.
  • Participate in weekly meetings with project stakeholders, ensuring attention to detail and documenting actions related to our discipline.
  • Deliver security design consultancy assignments, from simple to complex tasks.
  • Produce design-stage documents, such as technical specifications, power load calculations, and tender evaluation reports.
  • Stay up-to-date with advances in security technology.
  • Meet task deadlines and complete assigned tasks within given timeframes.
  • Participate in onsite inspections and testing & commissioning.
  • Contribute to identifying new opportunities, developing proposals, and presenting to prospective clients and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a security design professional or in a related field.
  • Ability to work with CAD 2D, delivering design layouts that meet our internal standards.
  • Sound understanding of design engineering elements.
  • Proven track record of successful security design consultancy projects, preferably in Asia or similar environments.
  • Good understanding of RIBA design stages, including Conceptual Design, Developed Design, and Technical Design.
  • Knowledge and experience in integrated electronic security systems and physical security measures, including:
  1. Video surveillance systems.
  2. Access control systems.
  3. Intruder detection systems.
  4. Intercommunications systems.
  5. Security fences, gates, barriers, locking systems, and secure rooms.
  • Working knowledge of local security equipment rooms, main security equipment rooms, and control rooms.
  • Understanding of building a dedicated secure security network, considering network bandwidth and cybersecurity requirements.
  • Knowledge of well-known security management systems, such as Genetec and Gallagher.
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Applying risk management methodologies, such as ISO 22301, ISO 31000, SOC 2, and ISO 27001.

Essential Qualifications and Specialist Skills

  • Engineering degree in electronics and electrical engineering or communications.
  • Strong communication skills – written and oral.
  • Skills in working with project management tools, such as Microsoft Project or Primavera.
  • Commercial expertise, analytical skills, leadership.
  • Good client management and consulting skills.
  • Effective decision-making and judgment.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Assertiveness and drive with strong influencing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – building trust and rapport.
  • IT literacy – MS Office packages, advanced Excel.
